Chapter One

Laura looked around her room when she woke up. She didn't know what to expect then, and that hadn't recently changed. She still didn't know what to expect now. All she knew is that she wanted Erin and Marcus to come back soon. She didn't dare look out of the window.

So instead, she just waited. She brushed her hair with what they had left her and noticed that there was a tray of cheese and crackers there for her when she got up. It may have not been something that was gourmet, but it was something that Laura appreciated it. It was a good gesture, and not something that many people would have even though of.

She wanted to laugh that vampires would be more kind than any human she ever knew, but there really was nothing funny about the situation. She had gotten herself the something new she wanted, and now Laura was ready to handle it. It seemed like ages as she nibbled on those crackers and sat there still in her pajamas before anyone knocked on the door. When the knock did come, it started her greatly.

“Come in!” She shouted, and then she cursed herself for not knowing who it was even knocking. The resounding set of chuckles put her on ease, and when the door opened to reveal Marcus and Erin standing there, Laura felt much better.

“Good evening.” Marcus said, looking her over with his eyes. To him, Laura was quite the sight, and he could still feel Erin stiff beside him. The man was worried that she'd leave, but Marcus didn't think so.
