The Vampire in the Woods — Cassandra Pierce

When a young woman disappears from her small New Hampshire town, Sheriff Dana Linden turns to mysterious occult researcher Jamison Brand for help. This is no ordinary case, since the apparent abductor is a self-proclaimed vampire who has promised his victim eternal life. She hopes Jamison, who has spent many years investigating and writing about the dark arts, can assist her in tracking down the missing couple.

Dana has never believed in the supernatural, but she has no choice but to trust Jamison when he tells her that the vanished woman is in mortal danger. Jamison, it turns out, knows much more about the case and the history of local vampire activity than anyone else in town. Just as the two draw closer in their attempt to solve the case and resolve their attraction to each other, Dana also learns that Jamison has a few unsettling secrets of his own.
