The Severing — D.J. Manly

Billy doesn't remember much about how he was taken abruptly from life and sent to this lonely place where he watches the living but can't touch them. When his name is taken off the door of his office to be replaced by someone else's, he has to accept that he is really gone. Alex has no idea that Billy is following him around. He is happy with his new job. Then one night, a strange young man named Terrance comes up to him in a public place and tells him someone is sitting at his table. Alex doesn't believe until his best friend disappears, taken by the same maniac that severed a young man's life not too long ago. Billy has no intention of letting Terrance off the hook. He believes that he can find his killer, and also Alex's best friend, and free them all forever.
