Allie Turner and her boyfriend Bryce Reynolds have a good relationship. They share everything together, including their past. They both grew up as orphans, and they both recently discovered they're shifters. Together they have moved from New York and bought a cabin in the mountains of western Montana. They hope to find other shifters and learn more about what they are. One night Bryce is caught in a hunter's trap. Clay Parks, a huge mountain man, comes to their rescue. Allie is immediately aware there is a spark between her and Clay. It scares her. She can neither understand nor resist it. At first she hates Clay because she can sense he will come between her and Bryce. Clay is a shape-shifter, too. Clay tells Allie and Bryce that he is Allie's true mate.
