Adam St. James has never backed away from his career as a Sentinel Protector, even after he died during an attempted assassination of a client. Eve is an ER nurse and is on duty when a man burned beyond recognition is brought in. Her world is destroyed when she discovers that it is her husband, Michael. Left alone with no family in the city of Chicago, she struggles through the next year. As fate would have it, Eve learns that Adam has been watching over her for a year in order to protect her from possible assassins. Eve accepts this news exceptionally well and grows to love Adam. Their fates are woven together, but will it mean that they die together?
