Running On Empty — Shea Balik

Fiske Raines believed in working from the ground up in the family business, yet no matter how hard he'd tried to prove himself, his father had kept him out of any type of management position.  Refusing to take no for an answer, he worked even harder to learn all he needed to know in order to one day be able to step in as CEO.  That was when he'd found out something nefarious was happening.  Going to his father about his concerns, Fiske was confused when his father told him to drop it and to meet with a potential sales customer.  Fuming, he was determined to finish with the new customer and find out who was misappropriating funds and equipment.  Little did he understand, life was never that simple. Kelso Franks had been sent by the Shifter Council to find out who at Raines Holding was involved with capturing shifters to be sold to the highest bidder.  He was sick of needing to rescue men, women, and children who'd been forced to work themselves to death in conditions that left them with little hope of ever escaping or burying the ones that hadn't survived.  He would do whatever it took to stop the humans from attacking shifters.  Or so he thought.  What he hadn't expected was for one of the humans suspected of being behind this heinous act to be his mate. Would fate really give Kelso a mate who would treat shifters as if they were nothing more than their animal half?  Fearing the worst, Kelso has to decide if can trust the one person in the world that was meant to be his.  If Fiske was guilty, would Kelso be able to hand his mate over to the Council, knowing it would be a death sentence or will he take his mate and run?
