Callista Makris is between Anthropology degrees at Berkeley and needs part time employment for the summer break. When she applies for a job as an intern working on a special project with the prestigious Professor of Ethnography and Anthropology, Anbarasan Dahl, there is just one catch, the job ad stipulates applicants ‘must be sexually inexperienced.' Callista fits the profile for the work which is to study the impact of the increasing exposure to paraphilia in the mainstream media on ‘Middle American Women'. She is unaware that she will become a key study element.
Professor Anbarasan Dahl sets up his Victorian mansion as a study lab, with hidden video and audio as well as medicating the unsuspecting Callista to increase her susceptibility to erotic stimulus and reduce her inhibitions. He takes control of her wardrobe, buying expensive designer couture that is both sensual and classically erotic.
As part of the study he introduces her to material and experiences calculated to both instruct and arouse as he observes her growing sensuality in response to such exposure.
Professor Dahl has a deep guilt from his time in East Africa where he fell in love and had an affair with a beautiful Somali woman. Her subsequent death by stoning for adultery, despite her being a widow, emotionally traumatised Dahl and he has not had a relationship since.
Bruna Santos is Dahl's Brazilian housekeeper. She venerates him as her Master as he saved her life and rescued her from slavery in a Brazilian logging camp. Bruna interferes with the project to attempt to ‘cure' Dahl of his guilt and trauma in the hope she can become intimate with him. Bruna considers that her actions will also help Callista and she increases the dosage of Callista's medication and secretly medicates Dahl.
This is a cocktail of very powerful emotional ingredients that builds to a suitably satisfying climax.
