In Book Four of the series Emma hides her pregnancy from Ross, by lying to him that the test was negative. She still has no idea what is she going to do with it, and asks Ross to keep his distance. Her mother, who is deeply religious and sees the good in everyone, wants her to give Ross another chance. During the party for the one year anniversary of their parents, Ross sees Emma throw up and finds out about the pregnancy. He is stunned and goes through a strong denial crisis. He even accuses her that the baby is not his. Emma accepts everything and says in return. Ross insists that she is trying to get to his money, but with time, even he had to admit that that is not true. The next day, he asks for a chance to prove that he is different and they try to be a normal couple. Ross moves to her apartment and for a while they are even happy together. In the last chapter, however, their parents find out about the pregnancy and insist that they get married.
