Sofia Angelou finds herself alone again after seven years in an unfulfilling relationship she finally finds the courage to end. Requesting a sabbatical from her job, she buys a small house on twenty wooded acres in Clinton, Louisiana. Away from the city, the stars and the moon become a very real part of her life as they begin exerting a haunting pull on her blood in the form of intensely erotic dreams.
One evening, Sofia unexpectedly meets her closest neighbor, a man who looks very much like the seductive vampire haunting her dreams, dreams which include disturbingly vivid scenes of another century and a man she loved more than life itself. The line between dreams and reality, what is and isn't possible, becomes dangerously blurred as she begins falling in love with John even though she knows she should be afraid of him instead.
