In Book I, we were introduced to Alex5, soldier, scientist, teacher, and captain of the ship that carried four thousand survivors from a poisoned Earth in search of a new home. Inversion 1, the planet they eventually settle on, is an inhospitable world and it takes all their resourcefulness to survive.
Book II introduces us to a host of new characters, both human and alien, and follows their progress as their burgeoning civilisation is turned on its head by both medical and sociological upheavals.
