This western romance tells the story of Joshua Compton - a man who has everything, except a wife. Having worked hard for years building his ranch and extending his lands, the handsome cowboy decides it is time to find a woman to share his life with, and since there are no suitable young women in the little town of Crow Creek, he must look elsewhere.

He is soon exchanging letters with Violet Martindale, a young seamstress living in reduced circumstances in Idaho. Over time, each develops a growing attraction towards the other. Joshua does not wish his bride to be to undertake the stagecoach journey alone, so he travels to Idaho, arranging to meet her in a hotel. To his delight, she is even prettier than her photograph, and he enjoys her quick wit and humour. She in turn is overwhelmed by his good looks, strength and confidence, and returns home with him the next day.

Violet is enamoured by the scenic ranch lands but is not at all keen to observe Joshua's rules concerning her safety until he gives her a spanking to help motivate her. An incident occurs which threatens her safety, and to the surprise of all concerned, she handles it in a most unexpected way. A fun romance with a happy ever after ending.
