Solace thought she would risk anything for a moment of love and acceptance with Bastion. Or, that is, she planned to until she learns that the price she must pay doesn't just involve her inevitable death, but the demise of humanity as she knows it...
(A Cerys du Lys medieval fantasy erotic romance novella)
Sent into a lust-crazed frenzy by Valis and his deceptive gift, Solace nearly ends up destroying any chance she has of love or friendship. If she gave in, if she and Bastion coupled, the demon child that would inevitably grow within her belly would have killed her once she gave birth. That's the reason the townspeople sent her, and the reason the Demon King must marry his sacrificial bride, yet Solace wants more, and she thinks Bastion might, too.
Is love even possible now, though? Treachery and deceit abounds in the city of Runehaven, and she's merely a human trapped in a den of monsters. They don't all seem bad, but Faith warned Solace not to trust anyone, not even her or Bastion. When Solace learns of a prophecy declared long ago at Bastion's birth, she begins to realize why.
He may seem kind now, but the Demon King is destined to change. If she remains and grasps at what little love Bastion might have for her, she risks destroying the world as she knows it. And if she runs away she might never know happiness again.
Is an Ember of Ecstasy worth it when the resulting sparks could start a firestorm that would destroy everything she's ever known?
(This passionate medieval fantasy erotic romance novella of dominance and desire, kings and queens, peasants, monsters, and maidens is ~22,500 words in length)

*EXCERPT*
Solace awoke, or somewhat awoke. She never remembered falling asleep, except she knew she must have. And, truly, she still felt asleep. Was this a dream, then? Perhaps, and especially yes, because she didn't know where she was.
She stood in a long, wide open chamber. Behind her there was nothing but wall, and in front of her the room flowed onwards, spacious and expansive and deep. In the center of the room, or what she assumed was the center, lay a bed. Far off and away, she spotted someone walking.
For whatever reason, some logic unknown to her, she knew who was there.
Bastion!
She needed him, wanted him. Running, her dainty feet skipping along the lushly carpeted floors, she went to him. Bastion rushed towards her, too, sprinting and closing the distance between them. They met somewhere near to the bed, but that mattered little to either of them.
Solace wore no clothes. She was naked, standing there, held in his arms. Her golden hair, curling slightly at the tips of her tresses, lay across his shoulder, and she buried her face in his neck. He squeezed her tight in a longing embrace, as if he'd missed her for years and they'd finally reunited.
And then it began.
