A serial rapist and murderer on the loose. Will Kansas City's finest solve the case before the madman strikes again? Detective James Dixon is determined to track down the most recent serial killer terrorizing the people of Kansas City. The chase leads him to the Last Chance Bar and Grill, where he meets and immediately falls for the sexy owner, Bryan Scott. But things at the bar aren't exactly as they seem. No one there remembers seeing the latest victim the night before she was brutally murdered. So why do the clues keep pointing back to the Last Chance? When the attacks strike close to home, Dix and Bryan must work together to save the next victim and whatever chance they have for happiness. "This book was very well written with interesting and appealing main and secondary characters. I loved that while this book was the first book in a series the author did not spend a whole lot of time giving background information but rather let the story tell the backstory. This was a great story. I hope we get to see the main characters in this book in future books in this series. The chemistry between Bryan and James is blistering. I found it nice that Bryan and James were older and in their 40's. I liked seeing how the relationship between them progressed as well as Bryan's family helped push things along as well. I also liked that sex was not the focus of the book but the investigation into the murders was." ~Victoria, Hearts on Fire Reviews "Insta-Love at its best! I really love a feel-good romance, and that is what we get with these two older men. Is simple, short and snuggle up on the sofa feel good lazy day read. I really enjoyed reading about two men in their 40's. Dix and Bryan have their heads screwed on and were a lovely couple to watch fall in love. Short stories are my fav, I loved the combo these guys are, Dix is a cop and Bryan is a Bar/grill owner. Murders, Mystery and More! I really enjoyed the dynamic of the story and how well it all flowed together it's a pretty decent story. Hot scenes galore! *bonus* Seriously, a perfect comfort read, quick read to put your feet up and spend a couple of hours." ~ Ang, PNR Book Lover Review Book one in the Detectives on Duty seriesPreviously published as Dixon's Duty, under the series title Kansas City Heat
