Matt's life is in Chicago and Dean's in Kansas City. Neither of them wants a long-distance love affair, but Dean can't imagine not pursuing one. He's head over heels, but Matt isn't quite as convinced. When their most recent case takes a turn toward the deadly, what they want doesn't seem to matter anymore. Racing against the clock, Dean is desperate to save Matt and see what can be salvaged of their relationship. I really liked Dean. He was well spoken, thoughtful, showed emotions, but was still tough. The crimes of this book, while not overtly bloody or gruesome did end up becoming much more dangerous. I really enjoyed the story line - it was one that held my interest and made me think. I always enjoy a good mystery. Overall, I have enjoyed the Byrnes books that I have read. ~AvidReader, Inked Reviews These are quick and easy reads. These aren't angst-fests. They are comfort-reads.
