Colours — Kambon Obayani

Colours, a family saga exploring relationships, racism, homosexuality, and the supernatural. Set in New York between 1939 and 1961 this is the story of independently wealthy artist/jeweler Kwame Baylor; a man constantly tormented by the ghost of his dead African grandmother, while attempting to raise his homosexual nephew and gloomily silent bi-racial niece, both abandoned by their parents. This colorfully bizarre family tale finds life for Kwame being constantly interrupted by the ghost of his dead African grandmother, offering advice and a deep, dark family secret. Through these encounters Kwame learns that life can, like his colours, often create unexpected but beautiful hues and that family is more than a name.
