Daughllin is the Ceannair De Gach, strongest of all. He has a responsibility to all shifters, not just one clan, all clans. When he is unable to focus on his work he talks Aisling's father into sending her to live with some of her family in Ireland, though not unprotected. He made sure she was protected from danger and young shifter males.
