RAIN FEVER - BOOK FOUR Carla and Hunter are flying towards Earth when their shuttle gets intercepted by a patrolling North American military ship. They are taken into custody and put in isolation chambers to prevent the rain fever virus from spreading. Carla is taken in for an interrogation during which she lies about her connection to Hunter Manton. The captain of the military ship sees no further reason to hold Carla and Hunter in custody, and takes them to the laboratories of Silsby, Inc. where her father, William Silsby III, is awaiting them. While the scientists are busy with finding the cure for rain fever, Carla demands that her father tells her the truth about the role he and their family owned corporation Silsby, Inc. played during the war against South Asia. The confrontation with her father William leaves Carla disillusioned. She discovers that Silsby, Inc. was involved in the creation of rain fever and that the Undertakers have been genetically designed as a new human species immune to the virus. But she also discovers that Hunter has a violent past he hasn't told her about. Her illness progresses. When Carla's inner organs fail, the scientists manage to discover the cure for her at the last moment, saving her from certain death. But the virus in her has mutated. The cure that cured Carla can't be used to save anyone else from rain fever. Hunter doesn't accept his fate, though. He and Carla confront William in one last desperate attempt to help Hunter and keep the promises they made to one another.
