Graeme St. Paul has been living as a human for a while when he is asked to find an heiress to a considerable estate. But he finds and takes home not one person but a woman and her kid brother. The child needs to be protected, the woman needs to be loved. Graeme is a fully-functioning human being and she is one hell of a woman both inside and out. Is he going to follow his head, or his heart?
Kiara and Ronan's stay in Graeme's house not only protects them, but also starts to heal them. Kiara is feeling emotions she has forgotten because living in the streets demanded she be strong for her brother's sake; Graeme's protective influence has Ronan smiling and expressing, even when he's not speaking. Their lives have become a spring of hope.
Graeme knows how to be a guardian angel to a kid, but is just finding out how it is like to be a man in the presence of a woman who can strum his heartstrings into a beautiful song. But as the trio starts to build a home inside of Graeme's mansion, danger lurks outside the gates.
Kiara and Ronan need saving from someone, and Graeme is finding out things about one half-brother of the siblings he did not like. Is he the one behind the murder of Kiara and Kenneth's mother years ago? Did he ask Graeme to find Kiara in order for her to be killed?
And will Graeme be able to prevent harm from reaching Kiara and Ronan if he didn't know exactly where it is coming from?

“When I look at you,” Graeme continued, “all I can think about is holding you and kissing you. I know that's not actually appropriate, especially given our situation, but I'm putting you on notice. When all of this has been sorted, we're going to revisit this conversation; that is, if you're interested.”
“You know,” Kiara said softly. “When I told you that I slept really well, I was lying to you. I didn't sleep well; not at all.”
He looked worried. “Did I scare you with my confession? I suppose I should have waited for a few days, until I've proven to you that you and Ronan can trust me.”
She smiled. “The reason I couldn't sleep is because all I could think about is that you were only just a few feet away. I thought about just how easy it would be to creep down the hallway to your room, slip in and slide right into bed with you,” she said so softly, like she was afraid he would do something that would make her want to get those words back. Graeme was suddenly sure she wasn't lying. He was also sure she hadn't confessed anything like that to a common human being. A man, or even a man that she liked.
This time, it was Graeme who smiled. “Really?”
“Yes. That's what I thought about for hours. So if you're asking me if I want to talk about this further at a more appropriate time, then yes, I would.”
